General Questions
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 health crisis has made birth photography more complicated. Hospitals are currently quite strict with who can be in the delivery room, while birthing centers are more relaxed. We recommend checking the policies of where you're planning to deliver.
Ben has received the COVID-19 vaccine and stays current on his flu and TDAP vaccines.
We understand the private and intimate nature of the labor and delivery process. We also offer Maternity Portraits, Morning After sessions, and Coming Home sessions.
We love to celebrate our clients’ stories and share the profound joy of bringing a new life into this world. While we capture photos of the whole process, we tell these stories publicly with respect and modesty.
We will always honor your requests for privacy.
We want to be there! But we know the situation can be complicated. We have the utmost respect for birth moms and the process they are going through. We will only go in the birthing room with the permission of the birth mom. Our priority is to capture your story of becoming a family, whatever that looks like, so we’ll be there the moment you meet your answered prayer.
We schedule at most two birth sessions per month and work to plan our other sessions around your due date.
About the Process
Giving birth is often a marathon, not a sprint. We generally arrive when you begin active labor, around 5-6cm. If it's your second pregnancy, we'll use the first as a guide. Once we arrive, we'll stay 1–2 hours after delivery. We also offer Morning After and Coming Home sessions to capture the other parts of your journey.
In the event of a C-Section, we defer to the requirements of your physician and birthing location. Sometimes that means we'll be in the operating room with you. Other times that means we'll be outside with your friends and family. Either way, we'll do our best to capture your story. See Logan’s birth story for an example of a session involving a C-Section.
Giving birth can happen at any time, day or night. While we're careful to make every effort to capture your full story, in the unlikely event we do miss the birth, we'll still work to tell your story as best we can.
We also have a network of other talented photographers in the area that can step in if necessary.
We offer three different birth story packages starting at $1250. Contact us to schedule a consultation to talk through the details.
Absolutely! To us, providing you with ways to enjoy those photos for years to come is just as important as capturing your birth story. Many of our Birth Story packages come with an album and print products. Learn more about our products.
